Hats

While watching (yet again) one of my favorite movies, You’ve Got Mail, I re-heard one of my favorite lines…

Kathleen Kelly: “Once I read a story about a butterfly in the subway, and today, I saw one. It got on at 42nd, and off at 59th, where, I assume it was going to Bloomingdales to buy a hat that will turn out to be a mistake – as almost all hats are.”

…and it reminded me of how many hats I have in my home.  Some from beach trips, a few from jobs where I have worked, and many – in fact a LOT, from a sweet friend, Miriam.  A woman, from Baltimore, who always wore a hat to church on Sunday.   Not just, I came to know, because she was a pastor’s wife, but truly from a love of hats.

They bring me back to my childhood when my mom wore hats … all women wore hats… Hats were in.  Hats, to me, stated the dignity of that time.

I don’t wear these hats in my home.   I happen to agree with the line, that most hats almost always turn out to be a mistake.  They stay hung up and remind me of days that were different, of  joy from the past.

Website Anyone?

You have the words to tell about you, to speak of what you do, to show what you want people to know  – what else is needed?  As they say, “a picture’s worth a thousand words.”

Musketeers – all for one and one for all!

I love stories – especially when the characters in a story come together in ways that are unexpected.  What you don’t always know, at the beginning of a story as you meet them, is how the lives of the characters will intertwine.  How friendships will grow.   How life events will knit them together.

Rehearsal dinner fun..

If you know me, you know my love of photography stems much from my love of people. I love to capture the joy and emotion of a story, whether it be a family photo session, a high school senior about to leave the nest… even corporate headshots have stories built into them.

So it was a real treat for me to work with dear friends on the evening before their son got married. Marcia and Greg are warm, funny people who love everyone they meet. Hosting the Rehearsal Dinner was right up their alley. They so wanted to start the weekend with a warm, relaxing evening with family and friends to start the celebratory weekend.

Just a short time ago…

Just a short time ago, I photographed Paige and Daniel waiting for their little girl to make her entrance into the world. Their excitement was sweet as they prepared for her arrival. Cassidy showed up a wee bit early, entering the world small but very sure of herself.

Summer…Norcross…

Do you love summer as much as I do? Yes, we can love summer and still complain when it gets too hot, but c’mon … who doesn’t love all of the freedom to roam outside like you were a kid? Love the fact that it stays light so long? Love picnics and watermelon and baseball and water sports and …   your list may be as long as mine.

Eat, drink, and be healthy!

Every so often, as I have a discussion with a new client about why they are choosing to have a headshot session, I get an interesting response.  That’s what happened when I met Linda Citron, of Citron Nutrition.  Linda intrigued me with discussion on how she enjoys helping people thrive by simple changes in their diets, and taking control of their health!  Cleaner eating, lots of fruits and veggies, and all packaged in an easy to follow pathway to healthier lives.   So we planned her session to showcase that premise!
